The cafeteria on the 9th floor of the Printemps is one of my favorite unpretentious Paris hangs. Not only do they make a mean apple crumble pie (the steak-frites is good too), but it also flaunts some of the most shameless views of the city. I couldn't sleep last night at 3am so instead of having one my occasional Marilyn moments and reach for the benzodiazepines I decided to finish this dress I sketched months ago for a yet untitled shoot.
The mohair yarn is trimmed and applied by hand in a degradé pattern on the nude silk slip.
I finally gave up at around 8am when I noticed I had sewn part of the dress onto my own shirt (and duvet).

I'm not so much disturbed by the concentration camp trains references, but mostly by Meisel's tendency of late to merely scrape at the surface, never really getting into the crass of things. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's warm and cosy up the advertiser's asses but it's sad to see someone I admired so much turn out such trivial and antiseptic work.

struck me the most was the utterly celestial and heart wrenching sadness she
wore on her face. In a piteous attempt to pull myself together, I tried to
tune out the infection refrain resonating in my head (Teenage Dream) and
wondered how someone that beautiful could ever look so sad.
